HAI Solutions Advances AI-Enabled IV Connector Care with New US Patent

QIKcap System: QIKcap is HAI Solutions' ultraviolet platform for needle-free IV connectors, built to support more consistent connector care in the hospital

Issued Patent Advances an AI-Enabled Platform for IV Connector Care
HAI Solutions, a medical device company focused on intravenous therapy and vascular access, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Patent 12,714,760, "Sterilization device." The patent, issued August 25, 2026, and assigned to HAI Solutions, covers RFID integration for the company's QIKcap platform.

"Our team is building technology that helps nurses do the right thing for every connector, every time," said Nicholas Perrenoud, Chief Executive Officer of HAI Solutions. "This patent strengthens the path to an AI-enabled QIKcap platform, one that supports compliance, takes friction out of the workflow, and gives clinical teams a clearer picture of care at the bedside."

The issued patent adds to the intellectual property behind QIKcap, HAI Solutions' FDA De Novo–granted system for microbial reduction on needle-free luer connectors. An RFID-enabled cap gives each accessory a distinct identity. Paired with an AI-enabled device platform, that identity is the basis for better compliance visibility, simpler nursing workflow, and more consistent IV connector care across the ICU, the operating room, the emergency department, and the floor. The aim is practical: fewer missed steps, less variability between shifts, and support for the nurses who carry connector maintenance all day.

"We are pleased to add this patent to a portfolio aimed at the daily work of IV care," said Paul Swaney, Chief Operating Officer of HAI Solutions. "An RFID cap and an AI-enabled QIKcap platform are about helping nursing practice, improving compliance, and protecting the patient on the other end of the line."
