GE HealthCare expands Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio with three new systems

Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus combine cSound imaging with AI and automation capabilities across routine echocardiography, advanced cardiac imaging and interventional care.

GE HealthCare has introduced three cardiovascular ultrasound systems designed to extend its Vivid imaging platform across a broader range of cardiology environments.

The new Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus systems join Vivid Pioneer and are built on a common technology foundation while addressing different clinical and workflow requirements.

All three systems use GE HealthCare’s cSound software-based imaging architecture, which applies advanced processing to support contrast, resolution and tissue visualisation.

Vivid Explorer is designed for high-volume echocardiography laboratories and routine interventional procedures.

The system supports 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging across transthoracic, transoesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography, alongside AI and automation capabilities for advanced cardiac workflows.

Vivid Advanced is aimed at mid-sized hospitals and cardiology practices and combines comprehensive cardiac imaging with vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue applications.

Its cardiac capabilities include 2D transthoracic echocardiography, multi-plane transoesophageal echocardiography and 2D intracardiac echocardiography.

Vivid Focus is designed for routine cardiac imaging and brings cSound technology to a more streamlined system alongside AI-enabled workflow tools.

The three platforms incorporate automation capabilities including AI Auto Measure 2D, Easy AutoEF, Easy AFI LV and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler.

These tools are intended to reduce manual steps and support more consistent measurements, including assessment of cardiac ejection fraction.

A common user interface across the portfolio is designed to simplify movement between systems and maintain workflow continuity across different cardiovascular care settings.

The systems also support battery operation and a Power Saving Mode, allowing clinicians to move equipment between clinical environments while reducing energy consumption.

GE HealthCare has also introduced EchoPAC Software Only v211, extending common cardiovascular analysis and reporting tools beyond the ultrasound system.

The software enables clinicians to review, analyse and quantify studies locally or remotely using consistent workflows across image acquisition, analysis and reporting.

“The imaging needs of an echo lab, a cardiology practice, and an interventional environment are not the same,” said Jyoti Gera, CEO, CardioVascular and Interventional Solutions, Advanced Imaging Solutions at GE HealthCare.

She said developing the systems on the same foundation as Vivid Pioneer allows the company to address different clinical environments while maintaining a connected family of cardiovascular imaging systems.

Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus have received CE Mark.

The systems are currently pending US FDA 510(k) clearance and are not available for sale in the United States.

GE HealthCare unveiled the systems during ESC Congress 2026 in Munich as part of a wider portfolio spanning ultrasound, CT, ECG, image guidance and cardiovascular reporting.
