Oracle Health expands clinical AI agent with coding, dictation and chart review

The expanded platform uses AI to support professional fee coding, surface relevant information from electronic health records and transcribe clinician dictation while retaining human review.

Oracle Health has expanded its Clinical AI Agent with new capabilities covering professional fee coding, clinician-controlled dictation and electronic health record chart review.

The capabilities are currently available in the United States and are designed to reduce administrative workload while embedding artificial intelligence into existing clinical workflows.

For ambulatory coding, the Clinical AI Agent can analyse conversations during patient visits and suggest professional fee charge codes within the ordering workflow.

Clinicians remain responsible for reviewing and confirming the recommendations before submission.

Oracle said the approach is intended to reduce manual review, limit rework caused by incomplete or inaccurate information and improve coding consistency across healthcare organisations.

The platform can also surface clinically relevant context from across a patient’s electronic health record.

It brings together information including medical history, laboratory results and medications and summarises relevant details to help clinicians prepare for patient encounters without manually navigating multiple areas of the record.

A new dictation capability allows clinicians to speak directly into text fields, with the AI transcribing speech in real time for subsequent review and editing.

Clinicians remain responsible for reviewing, editing and signing the resulting documentation.

“With our expanding portfolio of AI capabilities embedded directly into clinical and revenue cycle workflows, we're helping healthcare organizations operate more efficiently while enabling clinicians to stay focused on delivering high-quality care.”

Oracle Health said its AI agents use semantic reasoning to understand clinical context and share information across workflows while keeping clinicians involved in decision-making.

The company said its Clinical AI Agent’s note-generation function has saved physicians more than 400,000 hours across US health organisations since its launch nearly two years ago.

The expanded capabilities reflect growing efforts by healthcare technology companies to embed AI directly into clinical documentation and administrative systems rather than introduce standalone applications requiring separate workflows.
