Foundation Healthcare Holdings has formally reopened its upgraded Foundation Ambulatory Centre Orchard following a refurbishment aimed at expanding access to surgical and procedural care outside traditional hospital settings.

Located at Paragon Medical Centre, FAC Orchard is designed to support selected surgical and endoscopic procedures requiring operating theatre infrastructure, anaesthesia support and structured post-operative recovery, while allowing patients to return home on the same day.

The centre underwent a full refurbishment during the first half of 2026 to strengthen its clinical and recovery capabilities.

It now provides dedicated operating theatres, endoscopy facilities and recovery areas supporting procedures across general surgery, hand surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, otorhinolaryngology and pain management.

Foundation Healthcare said the centre was co-designed with its specialists, with infrastructure, clinical workflows and peri-operative protocols developed around patient safety and clinical outcomes.

The facility integrates in-house anaesthesia support with structured pre-anaesthesia assessment, bringing surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing teams together earlier in the patient journey.

FAC Orchard also applies Enhanced Recovery After Surgery principles adapted for ambulatory care, with the aim of supporting more consistent outcomes and faster recovery.

The reopening forms part of Foundation Healthcare’s broader strategy to move clinically appropriate procedures into ambulatory settings while reserving hospital resources for patients requiring more complex or intensive care.

The group is positioning this right-siting approach as a way to make private healthcare more affordable and sustainable amid rising medical costs and an ageing population.

Foundation Healthcare is also working with insurers on bundled packages for procedures performed at its ambulatory centres, providing patients with greater clarity over the cost of care.

FAC Orchard is currently a Prudential Panel Healthcare Institution.

Together with Foundation Ambulatory Centre Novena, which opened in February 2026, FAC Orchard expands the group’s ambulatory network and complements its wider specialist clinic footprint.

Foundation Healthcare said its focus will now be on increasing utilisation across its specialist network and expanding access to procedures that can be safely performed in an ambulatory setting.

The expansion reflects a broader shift in healthcare delivery towards moving appropriate procedures away from acute hospital settings and into purpose-built ambulatory facilities that can provide shorter stays, more streamlined workflows and lower-cost care.
