Cardiologists from China and Indonesia have completed a complex chronic total occlusion procedure in Jakarta using United Imaging’s uAngio AVIVA angiography system.

The procedure was performed at MRCCC Siloam Semanggi and broadcast live to more than 500 interventional cardiologists across the region as part of the Advanced CTO Masterclass 2026.

The case was jointly performed by Dr Song Lei of Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Dr Arif Sejati of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi.

Chronic total occlusion interventions involve opening coronary arteries that have been completely blocked for an extended period and can require precise visualisation to navigate complex vascular anatomy.

United Imaging said the uAngio AVIVA system supported the procedure through high-definition imaging combined with an ultra-low radiation dose.

During the live procedure, Dr Song highlighted the system’s ability to visualise subtle coronary channels while physicians navigated the complex lesion.

The case formed part of a broader clinical education programme involving cardiologists from China, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Tries Nainggolan, Executive Director of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, said the collaboration was also intended to support knowledge exchange between healthcare professionals across the region.

The masterclass combined live-case demonstrations and online discussions to provide training for interventional cardiologists managing complex coronary disease.

MRCCC Siloam Semanggi serves as a referral centre for cardiovascular and oncology care in Jakarta.

The procedure represents the first complex CTO intervention in Southeast Asia reported by United Imaging using the uAngio AVIVA platform.
