OMRON Healthcare Begins Full-Scale Production at First Factory in India

The factory also supports the government's Make in India initiative through local component sourcing, workforce development, and employment creation

OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd., a global leader in clinically proven medical devices for home health monitoring and treatment, announced the commencement of full-scale blood pressure monitor production at the OMRON Group's first factory in India, located near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Located at ORIGINS by Mahindra, the approximately 24,000-square-meter site has five production lines manufacturing blood pressure monitors for the Indian market, including the HEM-7090, HEM-7181, and HEM-7183T series. The factory also supports the government's Make in India initiative through local component sourcing, workforce development, and employment creation.

This milestone comes as India faces substantial cardiovascular healthcare challenges. Approximately 300 million people nationwide are estimated to be living with hypertension, while fewer than 5 per cent of households have a home blood pressure monitor in regular use.

OMRON Healthcare has operated in India since 2010, raising awareness of hypertension and the importance of home blood pressure monitoring, supporting academic research, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and local partners to improve cardiovascular care.

Moving forward, the company aims to increase the Chennai factory's production capacity tenfold by 2028, develop Chennai as a supply base for international markets, and introduce nebulizer production for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma.

This announcement features insights from Ayumu Okada, President and CEO, OMRON Healthcare Co., Ltd., who Said, “Under the OMRON Group’s long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030, we are working to address three key social challenges: achieving carbon neutrality, realizing a digital society, and extending healthy life expectancy. OMRON Healthcare's role is to contribute to the third of these, helping people monitor their health as a natural part of everyday life and access appropriate medical care when needed.”
