Aevice Health Partners With Parkway Medicentre to Roll Out Home-Based Paediatric Asthma Monitoring Programme Using Wearable Technology
Aevice Health announced its partnership with Parkway MediCentre to roll out one of Singapore’s first home-based paediatric asthma monitoring programmes. Powered by the AeviceMD Monitoring System, the programme allows clinicians to monitor a child’s respiratory health during sleep, the critical window when symptoms could be missed.
Managing childhood asthma can be challenging for families. Symptoms may fluctuate between clinical appointments, and young children can struggle to articulate changes in their breathing. Despite thorough clinical assessments and close collaboration with caregivers, capturing a child’s condition outside the clinic setting remains an ongoing challenge.
To address this gap, Parkway MediCentre is integrating the AeviceMD Monitoring System, an HSA-approved medical device developed by Aevice Health, into its paediatric care pathways.
Continuous monitoring is especially crucial for young, developing lungs during periods of poor air quality and haze in Singapore, underscoring Parkway MediCentre's commitment to proactive, year-round asthma management for children.
“At Parkway MediCentre, we are focused on delivering more proactive and connected care for our patients. Through this partnership with Aevice Health, we are bringing innovative home-based monitoring into paediatric asthma care, enabling earlier intervention and more informed clinical decisions.
Together with our partners, Dr Kao Pao-Tang and the IBCA team, we are enhancing care for children and providing greater peace of mind for families.” said Ms Tan Yujuan, Chief Executive Officer, Parkway MediCentre & Parkway Radiology, IHH Healthcare.
“Managing asthma in young children can be particularly challenging, as symptoms often vary and may not be easily observed during clinic visits,” said Dr Kao Pao-Tang, Senior Paediatrician. “This programme enables us to gain better visibility into a child's respiratory patterns at home, especially during sleep when symptoms can go unnoticed. With more continuous data, we would be able to support more timely and appropriate care for our patients and provide added reassurance to their families.”
Supporting better asthma care beyond the clinic
Asthma in children is variable, nocturnal symptoms are often under-recognized. Designed with children in mind, the AeviceMD wearable sensor is the size of a bottle cap and weighs just 9g, making it light enough to be worn comfortably during sleep.
The system continuously captures lung sound patterns in the background and may flag changes for clinician reviews, helping care teams better understand a child’s condition beyond what can be observed during a short clinic visit with additional supporting longitudinal data.
“We are proud to support Parkway MediCentre Paediatric in their mission to elevate childhood asthma care,” said Adrian Ang, CEO of Aevice Health. “Our goal at Aevice has always been to create technology that makes respiratory care more continuous, accessible, and actionable. Partnering with a leading healthcare provider like Parkway ensures our device is put to its best use, helping paediatricians make data-driven decisions and giving families greater reassurance at home.”
Looking Ahead
As Parkway MediCentre continues to evolve its outpatient care offerings, the asthma remote monitoring programme represents one example of how technology-enabled care models can support patients beyond the hospital or clinic setting.
Aevice Health remains committed to supporting visionary healthcare providers like Parkway Medical, working together to expand access to connected respiratory solutions that empower clinicians and improve patient outcomes across the region.
