Mount Elizabeth Hospital Completes S$350 Million Project Renaissance To Advance Complex Care Delivery

Major campus transformation strengthens integrated care, digital innovation, and high acuity clinical capabilities in Singapore

Mount Elizabeth Hospital, part of the IHH Healthcare network, has announced the completion of Project Renaissance, a S$350 million transformation marking its first major campus overhaul since opening in 1979.

First introduced in 2023, the three year redevelopment programme, jointly supported by IHH Healthcare and Parkway Life REIT, significantly upgrades the hospital’s infrastructure, clinical environments, and digital systems to meet the rising demand for complex, high acuity care among both local and international patients.

Strategically located along Orchard Road, the hospital continues to serve as a key healthcare destination, offering accessibility to Singapore residents while catering to international patients combining medical care with business or leisure travel.

Integrated Healthcare Ecosystem

Project Renaissance expands the Mount Elizabeth Orchard campus into a fully integrated healthcare ecosystem, incorporating multiple specialised facilities across outpatient, ambulatory, and inpatient care. These include Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Paragon Medical Centre, The Heeren, Tong Building, and Lucky Plaza, each designed to deliver care aligned with varying levels of clinical intensity.

This integrated approach enables improved patient flow, reduces congestion within the hospital, and allows inpatient resources to be prioritised for more complex cases.

The redesigned wards feature space optimised layouts, with enhanced clinical adjacencies to minimise patient transfers. In ward dialysis capabilities and continuous telemetry monitoring further enable patients to receive treatment within their care units, improving safety and reducing length of stay.

Advancing Value Based Care

The transformation reinforces the hospital’s focus on value based care by aligning infrastructure, workflows, and digital systems to deliver treatment in the most appropriate settings. By integrating care across multiple facilities, Mount Elizabeth Hospital aims to improve productivity, optimise outcomes, and maintain cost efficiency while sustaining clinical excellence.

Mr Yong Yih Ming, Chief Operating Officer of IHH Healthcare Singapore and Chief Executive Officer of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, said the transformation reflects a long term commitment to patient outcomes and operational sustainability.

Expanded Clinical And Diagnostic Capabilities

The upgraded campus introduces several enhancements to support increasingly complex case requirements, including:

  • Addition of 56 single bed rooms to meet growing demand
  • Consolidated operating theatre complex integrating day surgery and critical care
  • A new radiology complex with advanced diagnostic technologies
  • Improved infrastructure with 14 new lifts and optimised patient movement systems
  • Sustainability initiatives including energy efficient design and rooftop solar panels

Digital Transformation Driving Efficiency

Project Renaissance also strengthens the hospital’s digital capabilities. A newly established Patient Intelligence Centre enables real time management of bed allocation, surgical scheduling, and patient flow.

LizWorld, the hospital’s patient experience platform, integrates digital wayfinding, in room services, and patient information, improving operational efficiency and patient engagement.

Operational gains include reduced patient orientation time, shorter service request wait times, and measurable savings in nursing hours annually.

Advanced imaging technologies, including photon counting CT systems and AI enabled diagnostic tools, further enhance clinical precision and workflow efficiency.

Future Ready Healthcare Platform

According to Dr Peter Chow, Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare Singapore, the transformation positions Mount Elizabeth Hospital as a leading private healthcare provider for complex care in the region.

The initiative also aligns with broader digital advancements across IHH Singapore hospitals, including the rollout of the Cerebral+ electronic medical records system and AI driven tools such as Annalise.ai, Lunit, and NurseShift.ai to support clinical and operational excellence.

With Project Renaissance, Mount Elizabeth Hospital establishes a future ready healthcare model designed to deliver high quality, patient centric care while sustaining long term operational and financial efficiency.
