Caracal’s Strata Glove Receives Greenhealth Approved Seal

The recognition places Caracal’s nitrile examination glove within a vetted category of medical products meeting sustainability and safer chemical criteria for healthcare procurement.

Caracal Products & Services has received the Greenhealth Approved Seal for its Strata line of nitrile examination gloves, marking a sustainability-related milestone for the company’s healthcare supplies portfolio.

The seal is awarded to products that meet sustainability criteria established by Practice Greenhealth and Health Care Without Harm. For medical gloves, this includes review against Sustainable Glove standards covering safer chemical content, FDA requirements, packaging and ethical labour conditions.

The recognition comes as hospitals and healthcare systems place greater scrutiny on high-volume disposable products. Examination gloves are essential to infection control, but their scale of use also makes material composition, packaging and procurement standards increasingly relevant to institutional sustainability goals.

Caracal’s Strata gloves are produced in partnership with PRIMED Medical Products. The gloves are powder-free, chemotherapy-drug tested and fentanyl rated, while being designed for clinical tasks requiring comfort, grip and tactile sensitivity.

The product uses nitrile technology intended to support dexterity and material strength, with micro texturing and elevated fingertip texturing to improve grip in wet and dry conditions. The Greenhealth Approved review also requires gloves to avoid high concentrations of selected harmful substances, including biocidal chemicals, chlorinated paraffins, dyes and pigments, polyvinyl chloride and powder residue.

For healthcare providers, the development adds another procurement option in a category where performance, safety and environmental criteria increasingly need to be assessed together. The wider test will be whether sustainable glove standards gain stronger influence in purchasing decisions across hospitals and health systems.
